Chugging Along

Well, it’s been a month and more since A GOOD MAN was officially released into the wild. And what a ride its been.

The Newsday review. OMG. I still can’t believe it.

Amazon and Goodreads has been a roller coaster. At one time, AGM was the number one new hot release and in the top ten-twenty-one hundred in several other categories in Amazon. And the reviews on Amazon and Goodreads have been amazing. I had no idea that the book no one would ever read (besides me) had captivated many readers, readers who became emotionally invested in Brook’s journey. Yes, there have been some so-so reviews; no one has come right out and said it’s a stinker. It’s like ice cream. One person loves strawberry, another likes pistachio. Or cookies and cream. I’m not a fan of chocolate (unless it’s in an ice cream cake paired with vanilla). There’s room for everyone at the table.

Plus, this is a marathon, not a sprint. It’s going to take time for Oprah and Good Morning America to discover A GOOD MAN (yes, a woman can dream, and dream big). But so far I’m pleased with how it’s been received.

Continuing the marketing tour, I did an author signing at a great indie book store in Westhampton Beach, Red Jacket Books. And I sold two books! For a late summer Sunday, I’ll take it. And as an added bonus, a dear pal had custard croissants delivered. If you read the acknowledgements in AGM, you will know who it is. He believed in THE THING from the start.

I’ve read Writer’s Digest for many years, so it was a thrill when they ran my essay about how I challenged myself in writing AGM. It was a gamble and a challenge, a true leap of faith.

A great website, Women Writers Women Books featured my conversation with Brooks Anderson. It was hard pinning that sucker down, but if anyone could do it, it’s me

I was interviewed by the lovely morning host Gianna Volpe on her show The Heart of the East End on WLIW-FM, the only NPR station on Long Island. Honestly, I was hesitant; I’m not a fan of my voice, I usually sound like a drowning Minnie Mouse. But Gianna is so good at what she does and her questions were so incisive, that truthfully, it was like having a cup of coffee and cake with a girlfriend. And I could tell that she genuinely loved A GOOD MAN. I’m at the 20:39-34:42 mark.

And I had a wonderful conversation with the gracious Vicki St. Claire.

There was a blog tour where AGM was spotlighted with several great reviews. If you follow me on social media (you are following me, aren’t you?) you can tag along. I made new friends and connected with readers, which is all I can ask.

And I can’t thank my tribe enough for encouraging and supporting me on this long and winding road. I can’t name them all, but you know who you are and have my eternal thanks. Support your local author and bookstores.

And yes, in case you’re wondering, I’m writing. More to come on that.
